My Body Is A Temple

I mentioned in a previous post that I don’t love my body.
Well, apparently I am falling in love with my body now.
It’s kind of like falling in love with a man.
At some point, I said to my body, I love you.
Having said that, I have terrible flaws I hate about my body, and don’t get me started with the number on the scale.
And you know what? BMI can fuck me gently with a chainsaw.
BMI was created for white people, and it is constantly calling me names.
That’s some white nonsense right there.
Do I love my naked body? I’m a work in progress. For the moment, I can handle how my body looks in clothes. We all know I have all the clothes.
Who needs to walk around naked in this day and age? We are not in the jungle with Tarzan and Jane or Adam and Eve.
I’m taking a GLP-1. It’s a wonder drug. That’s probably why it costs millions of dollars. My insurance won’t cover it because I don’t have enough comorbidities like diabetes; I’m not even prediabetic. Which, on its own, is a great thing.
My point is, it is working. My body looks a little better already. And I’m not as obsessed with food.
But I still am in Weight Watchers, which is like AA for food. My instructor is my idol, and the group is sooo supportive.
I could probably get my GLP-1 covered by insurance if I had a better doctor. My mom pays for it now. And again, I’m very grateful for having that privilege.
I have to get a new doctor. I suspect my doctor is an idiot, but I’ve been too lazy to change providers.
Anyways, to make a long story longer, I honestly believe that because we are mind, body, and soul, the body is the vessel that carries us to nirvana.
That’s why I want to learn yoga.
Right now, I dance for exercise, which I think is spiritual too.
In India, especially in the south, people dance for the gods.

Back to my body, I feel like an entirely different woman since I started loving my body. I have a confidence I never had, even when I had a better body in my twenties.
Sure, I’d love to get a hot body. I’m going to be honest, I don’t know if I have the energy.
I’m old. I’m tired.
But then I look at women like Madonna. I mean, despite her freakish plastic surgery on her face, her body is beautiful. She does hours of yoga a day, I’ve heard. Look at Cindy Crawford; she still looks like a supermodel. I think she puts some kind of melon concoction on her face.
Anyways. Aging is a bitch for a body. Things start to sag on women; men get dad bods.
Who cares?
So I’m just saying my body is a temple, and so is yours. No matter what state it’s in.
This body has carried me through heartbreak, depression, joy, and everything in between. It has brought me this far, and I hope it carries me a little farther still.
Maybe it’s time I stopped treating it like an enemy.
My body is a temple. And for the first time in a long time, I think I’m ready to make peace with the place I call home.
